While the motorola signal booster has received overwhelming praise from hundreds of customers, I found that when used as an antenna signal booster it had no effect upon the signals. Finally, after two days of repositioning and retesting reception I returned it to Amazon (who are an amazing company in accepting and processing returns). I have no doubt that as a booster for cable boxes it works well. My one star rating is strictly based on its effectiveness in having the same effect on boosting digital HD antenna signals.

I am using this with an HDTV antenna and the results are really great with any length of coax cable.

I got this because my Ceton InfiniTV 4 Digital Cable Quad-tuner Card PCIe would randomly stop recording shows with a message that there was insufficient signal strength.

According to the Ceton Support site, the stats were okay (signal strength around 0 dBmV and s/n around 36), but apparently it occasionally does not meet that goal.

After installing this booster, the stats were around 14 dBmV and a/n around 34. Time will tell if my intermittant messages will go away, but I am confident they will. I had a similiar issue with my first generation SiliconDust HDHomeRun Dual High Definition Digital Television HDHR3-US (Black) which I have used for 2 years now for ATSC recording and it went away after installing a booster very similar to this one.

I am using it with Comcast.
